My love of riding began when I was small. My family would go camping every year and I would beg to go on a trail ride. In 6th grade I began taking English riding lessons and got to go over my first jumps. I then switched to western riding in 7th grade. My trainer did not give us a saddle till we deserved it - so lots of sore muscles!
I then started working with a reining trainer that also specialized in team penning. I learned a lot in high school at the Ortega Equestrian Center, and I rode a lot of horses. We competed in team pennings and horse shows. I bought my first cutting horse when I was 18 and never looked back.
In college, I competed in the intercollegiate horse shows and college rodeo. I also competed in the intercollegiate horse judging team where we went to Oklahoma and competed during the AQHA World Show. I placed 33rd in the nation. I was on the Quarter Horse Project where we started our own horses and trained them on cattle to be sold at the NRCHA auction.
Today I am involved in a women's trail riding group and I ride horses for clients. I compete in cuttings, team pennings and sortings.
